William J. Smith, LPI, COO, Security Consultant
As a Security Consultant to government, industry and private sectors for the past twenty-five years, William J. Smith provides security consulting services to Superintendents of Schools and directs security audit operations for the firm. He authors situational response protocols for School Districts and provides in-service training for the educational community. He co-authored The Safe Schools Self-Assessment Guide.
William J. Smith is the president, licensee and founder of Jennings Smith Investigations, Inc., a fully licensed Connecticut investigative and security consulting firm which has provided superior quality investigative, security and forensic services to the corporate, industrial and governmental sectors for the past 25 years.
Mr. Smith and his company have assisted several Fortune 500 companies in the investigation of issues of Workplace Safety and provided expertise to nullify threats of violence directed against senior management and/or facilities. In addition, Jennings Smith Investigations, Inc. provides a worldwide network of outside Security Consultants to assess potential risks to it's client's and provides written guidelines as counter measures for dealing with problem situations within the workplace. Mr. Smith has conducted and supervised investigations involving serious assaults on college campuses.
Mr. Smith's skill sets were derived from the beginning of his military service in the U.S. Army and CONNANG where he rose to the rank of Captain with attendant Security Ratings of Top Secret Cryptographic. Mr. Smith was in charge of all operational and physical security of nuclear missile installations including access verification control by civilian technicians assigned to the facilities.
After his military career, he was employed by a major insurance company and worked as an Special Investigator attached to the Legal Department where his principal duties were to assist it's legal department in developing information in the defense of complex and major claims. He subsequently joined Mulligan Associates, Inc. and became a member of a multi-state private sector task force financed by the insurance industry to combat arson related organized crime in the New England area.
In 1982, Mr. Smith was retained as a Security Consultant by the Office of the Chief State's Attorney to form a special security unit to assist in an ongoing investigation of the gaming industry. In 1986, he was independently contracted to investigate workplace violence issues and to assist management of numerous companies in formulating crisis response plans to deal with the growing problem of crimes in the workplace.
Mr. Smith currently provides security consulting services to several school superintendents and directs security audit operations for the firm. Additionally, he offers situational response protocols to client districts and works with school officials, law enforcement and fire marshalls to effect their implementation. He currently serves as on the Executive board of the Connecticut Licensed Private Investigator's Association.
